The SAP and SAP Fioneer Financial Services Forum brings together some of the most forward-thinking institutions and technology leaders in the industry. Sponsoring this event for another year running, we were proud to be back for another packed agenda of insights and collaboration.

Set against the backdrop of Munich’s iconic stadium this year, the forum explored the ongoing transformation in financial services, with innovation, resilience and clean core principles leading the charge. Representing bancon were Jörg Mauelshagen, Brad Jarrett, Diemo Wilhelm and Emma Taylor — a brilliant team of banconeers who connected with clients, partners and peers over two inspiring days. They have shared their collective highlights with us:

Driving Agility and Resilience at Nationwide

Otto Benz, representing Nationwide, delivered a compelling session on balancing resilience with innovation. With multiple transformation programmes underway, including the modernisation of their payments infrastructure and the implementation of SAP S/4HANA Payment Centralisation, Nationwide’s journey reflects the very essence of scalable innovation. The emphasis on building agility to meet growing client demands without compromising infrastructure resilience is a familiar challenge for us at bancon. We’re proud to support this journey alongside partners SAP Fioneer and Accenture.

Lloyds Bank: Cash Management for the Future

Sid Udani shared Lloyds Banking Group’s impressive evolution in cash management and payments. Their future-proofed platform has doubled their win rate, from 1 in 6 to 1 in 3, and there’s more to come. With a packed roadmap ahead, including plans to transition to SAP S/4HANA for Transactional Banking, Lloyds Bank continues to raise the bar. We are proud to be part of this success story.

ATB: Clean Core in Action

Anoop Menon from ATB offered real-world insight into the benefits of running SAP and SAP Fioneer applications on modern infrastructure. ATB’s clean core approach has transformed how they manage maintenance events, enabling simultaneous updates across applications, minimising downtime and accelerating delivery. Their focus on reducing environment contention while enhancing business continuity is a strong example of clean core done right.

Discovery Bank: A Behavioural Banking Model

Jerome Frey gave an energising overview of Discovery Bank - the world’s first behavioural bank. With its broader app-based ecosystem, Discovery incentivises positive financial behaviours with preferential rates, offering a unique and holistic banking experience. Jerome’s mantra “Speed to market and expand, as opposed to delivering the perfect product late” struck a chord with many in the audience. At bancon, we’re delighted to play a role in Discovery Bank’s journey.

Conversations that Matter

Outside the main sessions, the forum provided invaluable moments for connection and inspiration. The Women in Leadership event was a standout, and we were especially proud to see our own Emma Taylor take part in a powerful discussion on inclusive innovation, AI in financial services and redefining leadership across the industry.

A Fitting Venue

This year’s forum concluded in style with an evening hosted by Accenture at the Bayern Munich Football Stadium - an iconic setting that underscored the energy and ambition shared across the event.

The SAP and SAP Fioneer Financial Services Forum once again proved why it’s a must-attend for anyone driving digital transformation in financial services. As ever, we return energised and inspired - ready to keep pushing boundaries with our clients and partners.
